Mental note
Ahead of the Leinster Senior football final at the weekend a valid point from
Dubs fan Brian Murphy who got in touch about the tardiness of his fellow county men at recent gaa matches. "The reason I am mailing you is to put a shout out to the Dublin supporters going to the Leinster final on Sunday. Myself and my family are big time dubs supporters not just in the summer months but also the dark winter months as well. We are Parnell park pass holders and go to all games league O’Byrne cup etc. My problem is with our summer band wagon followers can you give a reminder to them that the game throws in at 4pm on Sunday the 20th July not 4.15pm. I personally think that it is an insult to our team and also the other team by delaying these matches. Firstly the officials in Croke Park shouldn’t delay these games start them on time and let them miss the first 15 minutes I bet they will be on time the next day. What is more important one last pint in the local watering holes or watching the match? I am sure the players love running out to a packed Croke Park not a half empty one like they did against West Meath and this is not just to supporters on the Hill it is to all the fans going to the match. I would greatly appreciate It if you could mention this at some stage over the next few days the press don’t have a lot of good things to write about us lets not give them more. One last thing I hope Tipp go all the way and win the Liam McCarthy Cup this year our family are second cousins to the O Meara’s in Mullinahone had a great time in Kos a few years ago with a bunch from Nenagh telling them I was Brian O Meara’s cousin."
Good point Brian. Not sure how much it will be heeded though!
